The way I used to live novel Chapter 27

Daksha's POV:

When I was entering the house, I heard someone clearing their throat. I turned around while praying in my heart. Please, don't let it be Aarna.

I was greeted with the sight of Rishu. I think she was walking on the lawn and saw everything that had happened out there. When I turned around, she gave me a teasing smile while trying to wiggle her eyebrows.

I was shocked to see her behave like that. Yeah and I have every right to get shocked because it's not like, I will get to see that side of her every day. Seems like Aarna was rubbing off on her.

Don't think that I am exaggerating here. Rishu was always a conservative person. She only minds her business unless it involves the three of us.

I don't know what caused the change in her behavior but she became quite a mature person for her age.

She just expresses everything through her actions instead of words. That was why it was a sight that was worth getting shocked for.

She was trying to wiggle her brows but she was not getting it perfect. I want to laugh out loud seeing her struggle.

I would have done it if I was not the one at the receiving end. She was too adorable. I went to her and pinched her cheeks.

"Don't fret over it. Tell the idiot who taught you to do this to teach you well next time," I told her and she gave an embarrassed smile while scratching the back of her head.

After that, I went to my room. After getting freshened up, I had my dinner. Now I was on my bed, smiling gleefully while thinking about all the happenings of this day.

I got out of my reverie when I heard the pinging of my mobile. It indicated that I received a message from Arrogant Ajju.

Oh, by the way, that was the name I gave him earlier. I was going to change it though.

[Good night :)

- Arrogant Ajju.]

The message from him was wishing me a good night.

[Hope you have reached your home safely. Good night.]

I sent a reply to him and started to think of a name to change his name in my contacts.

Adorable Ajju? Nah! It is too girly.

Sweet Ajju? Nah! Too routine and pretty common.

My Handsome Ajju? Nah! That he is. I don't need to mention it specifically.

Oh, God. I couldn’t even think of a good name. I fisted my hair with my hands and started dwelling over it. Suddenly a name stuck in my brain and I smiled in victory.

I saved his name as 'MJ'. Yes, it is MJ. Others didn’t need to know the meaning of this name, right? That was why I saved it like that. MJ meant My Jun. He is my Jun.

I smiled over that name and buried my face in the pillow. I started smiling like a fangirl and I didn't know when sleep took over me. I slept with a content smile on my face.

Arjun's POV:

After dropping Daksha at her parent's house, I started driving towards my house. To my house, I kept smiling to myself.

I knew that I was behaving like a teenager who got his first love. Trust me, that was exactly how I was feeling at the moment.

I reached my house and after parking my car, I went into the house. I was climbing the stairs while swirling my keys with my forefinger and whistling a happy tune.

Ammu was about to come out of her room but when she saw me in that avatar, she stood rooted to the ground and looked at me with her mouth agape. I gave her a full-blown smile and went into my room.

I don't feel like eating anything. So, after freshening up, I went directly to bed and took my phone. I opened the contact of my angry bird and sent her a good night message.

The reply came immediately. I read the message and smiled to myself. I was about to reply back but after seeing the time, I thought to not message her anymore as it might delay her sleep.

I kept my phone aside and started thinking about that day’s happenings. I smiled after remembering how she misunderstood my intention and started scolding me.

See? I didn't call her an angry bird without a reason.

She told me about how she wanted to give this marriage a chance, making my heart skip a beat.

Even though I felt bad when she misunderstood me, I understood her feelings and insecurities immediately. In fact, I gave it a thought before itself.

That was why I transferred the majority share of my properties to her name to assure her.

I didn't decide to open up to her about my past at today's meeting itself but when I heard about how she wanted to give this relationship a shot, I decided at that moment to come clean about my past.

I took her to my secret place and told her about my past. When I was telling her about Anusha, I observed her face to gauge her reaction but I received none.

I sighed in disappointment and chided myself for thinking like that. How could I expect her to fall for me when it hadn't even been a month since we met each other.

When she questioned me regarding whether I would stay with her forever irrespective of her past, I couldn't answer immediately because I was so shocked to see her so vulnerable when she asked me that question.

She looked like she was about to cry when I didn't answer her question and tried to remove her hold from me. So, I immediately pulled her into a hug and assured her.

She hugged me tightly and started sobbing in my chest. My heart constricted with every sob that escaped her mouth.

I didn’t know why but her tears gave a pang in my heart and I couldn’t stand the sight.

So, I hugged her even tighter and I let her cry her heart out. At that moment, whatever her past might be, I promised myself to protect and cherish her forever.

After a while, she stopped crying and started laughing at my awkward consoling.

I dropped her off at her house. I gave her a forehead kiss and again assured her.

"What might be her past? Why is she so affected by it? Is it that dreadful? Whatever! I asked her to tell me whenever she feels comfortable. So, I won't force her and will wait patiently for her to tell me. Till then, I will just support and respect her decision,"  I thought and drifted off to sleep with her face in my dreams.

The next day, I woke up, freshened, and dressed in casual attire as I wouldn’t be going to my office for a week or so. What to say? Mom's order.

I went to the dining room, took my seat, and waited for my breakfast. Mom was already there.

She smiled at me teasingly. By seeing her smile, I got a pretty good understanding that she was up for teasing me.

"I heard that yesterday someone came to the house in a jolly mood. I also heard that someone transferred his properties to someone. Malathi, do you know who that person is?" Mom asked me in a teasing tone. To say that I am embarrassed by her teasing would be an understatement.

"Maa," I whined, expecting her to stop teasing me.

"Okay. I won't tease you anymore. I am really happy with your decision. In fact, I am proud of you for treating her well even before the wedding," she said and gave me a heartwarming smile.

That is why I always say that I am lucky to get this family. Mom never opposed my decision and always supported me in everything.

Even yesterday, I neither approached nor discussed my decision with her before transferring the property. Yet, she didn't feel bad about it and was even praising me about it.

I smiled at her. Ammu also joined us at the table and sat beside me. One of the maids served breakfast and I had it pretty quickly.

When I was about to leave, Malathi aunty stopped me and told me to wait for her as she went to bring the juice. While waiting for her, I took out my phone and thought to send a message to Daksha.

'Good morning. Have a nice day.’ I typed and sent it to her.

[Man :(  Don't you have a single romantic bone in you?']  That was the reply I received from her.

I heard the laugh of someone and I turned to see that it was Ammu who was controlling her laugh to not get choked on her food.

"Oh my God!” she laughed. "I totally agree with vadhina(sister-in-law)." She said and laughed while holding her stomach. Mom smiled at us and left for her room after having her breakfast.

"Anna, the message that you sent is so formal. It didn't give any romantic feel. No wonder she sent you that reply," she said after controlling her laughing.

I didn't understand anything at all. Was there any other way to greet someone? I looked at her confusedly and asked her the same to which she burst into another round of laughter. I glared at her and she somehow stopped it.

"Anna, I am not talking about the words that you have used but I am talking about the way that you have sent the message. Give me your phone. I will show it to you,"  I handed her my phone and she typed something and showed it to me.

'Good morning beautiful. Have a nice day I gave him some instructions and hung up the call. I went to my room after having my juice and laid on my bed. After a while, he called me and told me that the work was done.

"I hope she is not too dumb to understand the meaning behind it." I thought and waited in anticipation for her reply.
