Wake Up! You’re My Ex Now (Cordelia) novel Chapter 7

Chapter 7 Let’s Not Do This Again

Inside the car.

Elijah leaned in to pick up where they left off, but Cordelia held up a hand to stop him.

She straightened her dress.

“Let’s not,” she said, all the desire gone from her voice now. “I’m not interested in doing anything in the car.”

Elijah froze.

Cordelia had already returned to her usual self, except for a slight blush on her cheeks.

She sat upright and focused on her phone, using her hair to hide the mischievous delight in her eyes.

‘Eva must be restless now… She deserves it.’

Cordelia urged, “Let’s go back.”

With a frustrated scowl, Elijah started the car.

***

Cordelia kept herself busy the following days, completely ignoring all of Elijah’s messages.

She had never seen him so eager for her attention before.

Annoyed at her phone constantly buzzing, she finally replied.

[Looks like you have a lot of free time lately. How about we go and get our divorce certificate? As for your parents, I can help you keep it a secret for now.]

After she sent the message, his texts immediately stopped.

Satisfied, she tossed her phone into her purse and entered the ward of the last patient, ready to perform their acupuncture.

An hour later, she put away the needles and left the ward, smiling kindly from the sincere gratitude the patient and their family gave her.

Her break was cut short when she heard a familiar voice.

“Eva, I’ll leave if there’s nothing else.” Elijah squatted by the wheelchair and spoke with a gentle tone.

Eva’s eyes turned red. “Elijah, I’ve caused you so much trouble lately. It’s even affected your relationship with your wife… It’s all my fault!”

Cordelia frowned.

So Eva knew she was breaking up a marriage.

Elijah took out a handkerchief and wiped away her tears, saying, “It’s nothing.”

“I knew your wife was mad at me. But Elijah, being with you makes me so happy.” She choked back a sob.

Cordelia saw the tenderness in his eyes, heard it in his voice… Something he had never shown to her.

She blinked rapidly to push away her tears before they fell… She stood up and ran away.

A faint smile appeared on Eva’s face, and was gone in a flash.

Eva took out her phone and showed Elijah the screen. “Elijah, there’s a ballet performance tonight. Can you take me to watch

it?”

“A ballet?” Elijah frowned. “I’m not interested in opera or ballet.”

But when he saw the poster, his interest was piqued.

“But, I really want you to come with me,” Eva whined.

He sighed. “Okay, let’s book the tickets then.”

Eva grinned inwardly, delighted at how obedient Elijah was to her.

Night fell, and Elijah fulfilled his promise to Eva, as usual.

On the ballet show’s poster, the male and female leads were wearing masks. It was said that their true identities would only be revealed during the performance.

Cordelia was getting into her gorgeous costume, her lips painted fiery red.

Imogen came in, leaning on a crutch. “I think I just saw your husband earlier pushing a girl in a wheelchair. Maybe I was mistaken, though…”

Cordelia took a peek behind the curtains, and smiled sadly. “Yeah. That’s him in the VIP box.”

Eva was hugging Elijah’s arm and cating the snacks he fed her with a sweet smile on her face.

Imogen gasped. “Are they…?”
