Chapter 117 This Year Was All My Wishful Thinking

His brows furrowed tightly into a frown, his voice deep and magnetic, “What do you mean?”

I stopped speaking, numbly walked to the entrance of the emergency room, wrapped my arms around myself and squatted down against the wall.

The wind in the corridor blew fiercely, its whistling sound seemed to be ruthlessly mocking my unrequited love over the years.

“Tabatha….”

Walter was looking at me, wanting to say something, but was interrupted by Ashley who started speaking.

“Walter!” Ashley’s face was somewhat pale as she looked at Walter’s bleeding hand, her eyes full of distress, tears welling up in her eyes. “Walter, if you delay treating your hand, something bad will happen.”

William, who had remained silent until now, also turned his gaze towards Walter’s bleeding hand, taking a slight breath. He looked at Walter and said, “If you delay the wound any longer, your hand will be completely ruined. I’ll take you to see a doctor.”

After speaking, he didn’t wait for Walter’s response, and directly dragged Walter away by his other hand.

I numbly watched all of this, with not a ripple left in my heart.

A few drops of bright red blood in the corridor caught my eye, and I found it extremely glaring.

Rachel’s surgery didn’t end until midnight. When the doors of the operating room opened, several doctors in white coats looked at me and said, “The patient’s condition is relatively stable at the moment. She needs to be hospitalized for a few days. It would be best for family members to stay with her and pay attention to her mood.”

I nodded, agreeing to each one.

In the ward.

Rachel had just finished her surgery and was still unconscious. After completing the hospital admission procedures, Alexander came in and said to me, “I’ll stay here tonight. You just had a miscarriage and your body hasn’t recovered yet. Go home and rest.”

I shook my head, sat down on the chair next to the ward, took a weary breath, how could I leave here with peace of mind.

Seeing that he couldn’t do anything with me, Alexander didn’t say much anymore. I don’t know where he got another sickbed from, forcing me to lie on it and rest.

The hospital room was a single room, fairly large in size. It wasn’t difficult to squeeze in two beds. Seeing this, I didn’t say much. I had just had a miscarriage, and my lower abdomen was still slightly aching.

Staying by the bed all night like this, my body indeed couldn’t take it.

The next day.

As the sky began to lighten slightly, I was jolted awake by a piercing

scream.

It was Rachel, she had woken up, but her expression was one of shock and fear. Alexander was by her side, trying to soothe her, but it was of

no use.

Seeing her about to run out of the ward, I hurriedly got out of bed and held her, hoarsely saying to Alexander, “Go call the doctor, quickly!”

Alexander nodded and quickly left the room.

I held onto Rachel, who was nearly mad, with all my strength. She struggled fiercely, screaming, “Don’t touch me, don’t touch me, get away, get away!”

I knew she was in fear, unable to stay lucid.

She clung to her tightly and shouted, “Rachel, it’s me, I’m Tabatha.”

Seemingly hearing a familiar name, a glimmer of clarity appeared in her terrified eyes. She turned to look at me, her eyes already a bright red, “Tabatha, is that you…” Before she could finish her sentence, her entire body began to shake violently as she burst into tears.

The sound was heart-wrenching.

I held her, my heart aching terribly, comforting words stuck in my throat, unable to utter a single word, I could only gently stroke her back over and over again.
