Chapter 134 He Could Not Escape

Their eyes met, he didn’t speak, but the tightly knitted ‘Chuan’ character between his handsome brows was enough to indicate his anger at that moment.

After a while, he seemed somewhat helpless and sighed, looking at me and saying, “Tabatha, I accept your hatred and resentment towards me for the child’s matter, but I don’t agree to divorce. From the moment I married you, I never thought about divorce again. I can let go of your past with Ezra, and I won’t ask about it, but I hope it ends between you two.”

Looking at him, I furrowed my brows tightly. What did his words mean? Things between Ezra and I were over? What was over?

Unable to comprehend his nonsensical words, I pursed my lips and chose not to engage in further conversation. Coldly, I said, “When it comes to divorce, you don’t get to decide alone.”

I had not failed to strive for our future. When I found out I was pregnant, I even went to see Carley. I wanted to fight for a future for myself, for our child, for Walter and me.

I had thought that if he couldn’t let go of Ashley simply out of gratitude, I would clarify to him that the person who saved him back then was not Ashley.

As long as Ashley wasn’t there, we were just like before, accustomed to each other, taking care of each other. I gave birth to our child, living the life of an ordinary couple. I believed that even if he didn’t love me, he had the responsibility of a husband, the responsibility of a father. Over time, he would gradually fall in love with me, and we would build a happy family.

When I saw his near-madness for Ashley, I was stunned. When I saw him leaving the old house with Ashley, I suddenly realized that I was deceiving myself. He didn’t love me, whether I was pregnant or not, not loving is not loving.

That six-week-old child made me realize that whether Ashley had saved him or not didn’t matter to him. Unconsciously, perhaps, his focus had already shifted to Ashley.

Divorce was the best outcome for him and me.

At night on the sea, the starry sky was particularly bright, especially the sky before dawn, the stars were exceptionally clear.

After such a long struggle, I was utterly exhausted. Not long after I returned to the cabin, I fell asleep.

“Bang! Bang!” I was awakened by several explosions, listening groggily to the noise coming from outside, I opened my eyes.

It took a while for me to realize that it seemed like a fight had broken out outside. Subconsciously, I glanced outside the cabin. By then, it was already daylight, with the sun hanging high above the sea. The sea breeze was howling, accompanied by a few gunshots and roars.

Realizing something was wrong, I jumped out of bed and ran out, standing on the deck. I saw the yacht that was detaining Ezra was now engulfed in raging flames. On the yacht, Ezra was holding a dagger tightly against a policeman’s throat.

He was covered in blood, one leg seemingly shot, limping slightly. Despite this, he still had a smile at the corner of his mouth, his devilish eyes provocatively looking at Lucas and Walter who were confronting him. He mocked, “Gentlemen, shoot. Let’s see if your guns are faster, or my knife? Hmm?”

As he spoke, the grip in his hand tightened, and the sharp knife

plunged a bit deeper into the policeman’s neck. Bright red blood trickled down the handle of the knife. The policeman turned pale with fear, looking at Lucas with eyes full of helplessness and terror.

Lucas, fearing that Ezra would act recklessly, quickly spoke up, “Ezra, let him go, I’ll let you leave.”

Ezra raised an eyebrow and said, “Fine, since you sincerely want to let me go, then prepare a submarine for me. You’d better hurry up, otherwise if I get upset, my hand might slip and cut off his throat. You can’t blame me then.”

Lucas quickly nodded, arranging for someone to prepare the items that Ezra had requested.

I watched the standoff among several people. Although I didn’t know what had happened, I roughly

that Ezra must have broken free

from his confinement and taken a police officer hostage.

I didn’t expect Ezra to be so capable. Even though he was already caught, he still managed to escape.

If he had escaped this time, it was unknown how many more people he would harm in the future. The police had lost so much in terms of finances and personnel in order to catch him. It was uncertain what they would have to sacrifice next time to apprehend him.

Thinking of this, I looked around and finally set my eyes on the yacht burning behind Ezra. I had an idea in my mind. I went down into the water along the deck. Everyone on the yacht was focused on Ezra, so naturally, no one noticed me.
