My Brother's Best Friend Is My Mate novel Chapter 18

That voice sounds familiar, too familiar. The person walks out of the shadows and that's when I recognize it's Liam. Liam. What in the Greek Gods is he doing here? I thought Ryan looked angry but Liam looks so angry, I think he could burst. He is livid. I think it might be the lighting of this place but, are his eyes yellow? Liam's once soft, brown eyes have changed into a glowing yellow, or I think green color. Does he have in lenses? The man holding me let's me go, and I stumble before I finally balance myself. Liam's eyes wander over to me sneaking a few glances when he thinks I'm not looking but this entire time he keeps glaring at the two men who kept me hostage. He was acting like he really cared about my well-being , which he probably didn't, but that didn't stop me from feeling as if I was on fire. Then the most dumbfounding, iconic, jaw dropping, never seen before (call it whatever you may) happens: my kidnappers shift into massive wolves. Like, abnormally huge wolves. Ryan- or his wolf has dirty blonde fur and the other man has a scarlet- red color--the color of his hair. Are these for real? I'm waiting for someone to say, "You just got punk'd" and a man in a suit followed by cameras come up to me but I don't see any cameras and no one here looks like their trying to prank me. What the duck? I'm frozen in place and I don't need a doctor to tell me I'm suffering from shock. This is all too much to handle. "Run!," Liam yells as he too transforms into a wolf whose fur is as dark as midnight and I have to admit it makes it look super silky and soft. I run, as Liam commands me to, and I try to run I the opposite direction. Once I'm out of sight and hearing from all of the chaos that's about to go down, my eyes take a while to adjust to the light as the room I was previously in was only had quite dim light. I spot someone who looks like a girl or female, and she seems to be looking for someone. I see a metal bat and grab it and inch cautiously towards said person. She seems to sense me and she turns around. I drop the bat in a hurry, glad I hadn't killed my best friend on the spot. "Spencer!," I run towards her and she runs to me also and we both crush each other in a hug. "I thought I would never see you again." The tears I had almost spilled threaten to come. "I'm so glad you're OK," she says and she seems totally relieved. "Thank you so so much for coming," I thank her.

"But what about Liam?," I ask Spencer. I genuinely care for his safety, he rescued me so I care a little. "I saw some men-" Spencer cuts me off, "We'll explain everything later," she promises and I nod in agreement. I feel like I'm going to faint I frustration and from being overwhelmed. I feel like crying because I'm alive. All jokes aside, I could have died back there. Spencer pulls me outside and we run down a flight of stairs at the same pace. She holds my hand until we reach a car which is parked among the trees. We both get in and I sigh I relief as Spencer drives off, dust rising up behind us. I'm safe, I'm free. I'm alive. I lean back on the seat taking in a fresh draw of breath, allowing myself to relax a little because I'm alive. He came for me.
