My Brother's Best Friend Is My Mate novel Chapter 46

It is late in the afternoon, the cool breeze blows against my matching pjs and my hair dances in the wind. I climb down the concrete steps of the building I have been recovering at and get into the car, and buckle into my seat at the request of my loved ones. Laying back, I pulled my new comfy sweater around my body as far it could possibly stretch and look down at it in anticipation as if it is a new shiny obsession, which it probably was. After I had demanded the well needed gift, Liam took no time at all to give it to me. I was elated with my present and mentally decided to wear this gem even when it was washed out and looking ragedy.

Spencer opened the car door and slipped in the seat beside me while she gave me a long, long look. Eyeing me she said, "Please do not tell me that you're already obsessing over the sweater."

I frowned as she face- palmed herself jokingly and chuckled. In response I laughed and playfully slapped her gently on the arm as Carter and Liam came into the car, Liam driving and Carter in the passenger seat. I was told by the doctor to take it easy for a few days, to get a lot of rest, keep my stress level low and at least try to have an appetite. I was also given some antibiotics, and later I learnt from Spencer that it was an all -werewolf hospital that hired other werewolves with special abilities to treat injured wolves. I planned to do everything the doctor said, wondering if I could keep up that promise with all that is going on recently. The car started off, moving slowly at first then accelerated speed once we turned off the highway. As I stared out the window, looking at passing cars I wondered what it would be like to not know about any of this. About supernatural creatures and their powers. About the danger they possessed within their normal human looking selves. Then I think about the people who are different, but love me as any other human could but even better: my bestfriend, Carter, Annabelle, Sarah and even... Liam. Suddenly, for the first time in my life, I don't want to change a single thing. Not one detail. There are at least 170 billion galaxies in the observable universe and I wouldn't alter not even a tiny jot of any of them. My life is perfect, even with all the dangers, and the fears, and it is exactly as I want it to be.

*A few hours later*

I twisted in my bed, which felt comfortable as usual and tried not to scream as my eyes glanced over a shadow seated a few metres away from me. My heart pounded in my chest and my lips felt dry, my throat parched.

"Hey." Liam says and I start calming down immediately by the sound of his voice.

Okay, he took away my only opening conversation line. Not fair.

He is sitting on a chair a few metres away from my bed and I got up to look at his face. A glow of moonlight shone over his head like a halo, a distraction from the completely opposite person who was staring at me with those sexy, piercing green eyes that seem to be searching my entire soul.
